Inspection Checklist

Technical Inspection (Day 1 — before run slot)

Officials verify before the run. Pass/fail; 30 minutes to fix a failure or forfeit the slot.

  • Length ≤ 400mm (starting config, arm at 90°)
  • Width ≤ 300mm
  • Height ≤ 400mm (arm at 90°, both arms horizontal)
  • Weight ≤ 1.5kg with battery installed
  • SEN0189 present and functional — produce one live NTU reading
  • Capacitive moisture sensor present and functional — produce one live % reading
  • Data output demonstrated (serial monitor line with units is sufficient)
  • Battery secure, no exposed terminals, all wiring insulated
  • Robot can be powered down immediately on official instruction — know exactly how
  • No prohibited components (combustion, mains power, pressurised gas, pyrotechnics, chemicals, flames)

Day 1 Morning (pre-run)

  • LiPo fully charged; spare charged and packed
  • Latest firmware flashed; TURBIDITY_DIVIDER_RATIO, SOIL_DRY_VAL/SOIL_WET_VAL match final calibration
  • Boot into RC mode (BOOT held) → status LED on
  • RobotAP visible; 192.168.4.1 loads; D-pad drives all four directions
  • Sector selector + both sample buttons work end-to-end (reading appears in page log AND serial)
  • Servo returns to 90° after every sample
  • GET /data returns valid JSON; drag-drop into visualiser succeeds
  • Serial monitor connected on the laptop that will face the judges
  • All connectors seated — no loose Dupont headers
  • Team knows the 12-zone sampling order and who operates

Post-Run (before leaving the arena)

  • Press End Run (persists results.json to SPIFFS)
  • Download 192.168.4.1/data → save JSON
  • Back up to at least two devices (phone + laptop)
  • Verify the file opens in the visualiser and every collected sample is present
  • Note actual readings per terrain for Day 2 preparation

Day 2 (case competition prep)

  • results.json copies on two devices; visualiser loads it
  • Charts render with labelled axes (NTU, %)
  • 2–3 key data insights identified in advance
  • Speaking roles assigned — multiple members must present (scored)
  • Projector/HDMI tested; laptop sleep disabled
  • Q&A bank rehearsed (see Competition Guide)
